Activation of TLR5 induces podocyte apoptosis

Abstract: The apoptosis plays a critical role in a number of inflammatory disorders. Bacterial infection is one of the causes inducing apoptosis. This study aims to investigate the mechanism by which activation of TLR5 induces podocyte apoptosis. In this study, a podocyte cell line was cultured in RPMI1640 medium. The expression of TLR5 was assessed by real-time PCR and Western blotting. The Fas ligand gene transcription was assessed by immunoprecipitation and chromatin immunoprecipitation assay. The results showed that… Show more

“…In our previous study, it has been proved that Bacillu thuringiensis enhanced autophagy (Gai et al., ). Although infection of bacteria can also induce apoptosis (Bandyopadhaya et al., ; Lin et al., ), it did not increase the levels of SeAtg5 mRNA described above (Hammond et al., ). It is unknown whether the injected bacteria were removed by the larvae when the level of autophagy decreased at 24 h post injection.…”

“…Moreover, TLR 5 also had similar results, downregulated on day 15. TLR 5 may cause podocyte apoptosis [ 31 ]. Furthermore, IL -7 can promote the survival of T cells by inactivating the death promoter (Bad) associated with the pro-apoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma 2 [ 32 ].…”
