Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Piezoelectric Beam

Abstract: Piezoelectric beam dynamics are characterized by elastic properties, nonlinearities, uncertainties, and unknown disturbances, thus making vibration suppression a challenging control problem. To meet this challenge, a novel active control method has been designed and rigorously tested on actual hardware without the requirement of extensive modeling. In this unique approach, the piezoelectric beam dynamics, known or unknown, linear or nonlinear, and all external disturbances are treated in their totality as an i… Show more

“…However, compared with the traditional ADRC method which is nonlinear, a linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) method has also been developed for controller design. The experiment results of [17,18,19,20,21] which used linear ADRC method all have achieved good results. In this paper, we clarify and analysis the structure differences, characteristic differences etc.…”

“…Conditions in (7) are restrictions on the time-varying gains a 1 (t) and a 2 (t) of observers (6), which may lead to high gains in engineering. The condition (8) requests that the growth rate of gains in (6) must be greater than the one of |ḋ j (t)|. These conditions are suitable to analyze the high-frequency disturbances [30].…”

“…It's basic idea is to estimate the model uncertainty and external disturbance in the system by an extended state observer (ESO), and then eliminate them in the feedback loop in real‐time. The ADRC technique had been applying to industrial control processes, successfully . Recently, Guo et al.…”
