Activities of the U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Division in North Carolina, 1986

Abstract

State of North Carolina during 1985 and proposed programs for 1986. This is the first in a series of biennial progress reports on Survey activities in the State. The Survey is proud of its reputation as an impartial, fact-finding and researchoriented agency. Survey activities involve such things as gathering, interpreting, and publishing hydrologic data and scientific information in support of State and local water-resources planning, management, and regulatory programs. The water-resources programs described in the report are funded through cooperative agreements with State and local agencies and through special agreements with other Federal agencies. Cooperative programs provide hydrologic information that is of mutual interest to the Survey, other Federal agencies, and State and local agencies. Cooperative programs are reviewed annually to insure that State, local, and national priorities are being met.
