“…Confirming our first hypothesis, FDRs performed significantly poorer on both TBPM and EBPM compared to HCs, and shared a similar pattern of PM performance with schizophrenia patients [9], [11], [12], [39] before and after controlling for potential confounding effects of basic demographic characteristics. This finding suggests that PM may be related to the genetic susceptibility for schizophrenia and that it could be considered as a potential endophenotype.…”

“…For instance, impairments in PM have been demonstrated in children and/or adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism (Farrant, Boucher, & Blades, 1999; Jones et al, 2011), schizophrenia (Kumar, Nizamie, & Jahan, 2008), acquired traumatic brain injury (TBI, Kinsella et al, 1996; McCauley et al, 2010; Tay, Ang, Lau, Meyyappan, & Collinson, 2010), and those who use substances known to effect brain development (e.g., alcohol, Heffernan & O’Neil, 2012; cigarettes, Heffernan, O’Neill, & Moss, 2012; and cannabis, Bartholomew, Holroyd, & Heffernan, 2010). …”
