Actual concepts of classification, diagnosis and treatment of atlanto-occipital dislocations in adults: non-systematic literature review

Abstract: Objective. To review the literature on atlanto-occipital dislocation (AOD) in adults to determine the optimal classification, diagnostic method and treatment.Material and Methods. A search was conducted in the PubMed database for the period from 1966 to 2020. The initial search revealed 564 abstracts of articles.
