“…Nothing has been pub¬ lished since the last list (Ramirez-Pulido et al 2005) that brings together in one place all of the taxonomic and nomenclatorial changes that have occurred at the generic, species, and subspecies levels. Several papers have chronicled recent taxonomic changes (Ceballos and Arroyo-Cabrales 2013;Gardner 2008a;Godinez et al 2011;Wilson and Reeder 2005) and, in fact those reports have generated the need for the discussions of taxonomic decisions we provide in this list.…”

“…Our records have confirmed the presence of E. barbara in Guerrero thereby increasing its geographic distribution more than 170 km from the nearest historic record of Acahuizotla and 450 km from Santa María Pápalo, Oaxaca (Espinosa-Lucas et al 2015). There are no published records in Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, or Michoacán, as reported by Álvarez-Castañeda (2000); and E. barbara is not included on systematic lists of mammals of Michoacán (Monterrubio-Rico et al 2014) or Jalisco (Godínez et al 2011). Therefore, the tayra records presented in this paper represent the northernmost records.…”

“…ISSN 2007-3380 ejemplares depositados en colecciones científicas especializadas o tomar muestras para una identificación genética (Álvarez-Castañeda et al, 2015). Las limitaciones en la identificación de especies pueden afectar la cantidad de taxas que se encuentran presentes en una determinada área geográfica (Godínez et al, 2011). En el caso de los mamíferos del PEST las limitaciones taxonómicas no afectaron la cantidad de especies reportadas.…”
