Acupuncture for Chronic Pain-Related Depression: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The aim of this systematic review was to summarize and evaluate the existing evidence on the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in relieving chronic pain-related depression (CPRD). Methods. “…A clinical controlled trial on electroacupuncture and SSRIs aimed at more detailed symptom evaluation using HAMD-24 showed that electroacupuncture significantly alleviated anxiety/somatization, which consists of mental and physical anxiety, gastrointestinal and general physical symptoms, hypochondriasis, and insights [40], compared with SSRI with factor analysis [41].
