Acute Cerebellitis and Myeloradiculitis Associated With SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Common Variable Immunodeficiency—A Case Report

Abstract: The role of the adaptive immune system in mediating COVID-19 is largely unknown. Therefore, it is difficult to predict the clinical course in patients with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), a disease characterized by dysfunctional lymphocytes and impaired antibody production. We report a case of SARS-CoV-2 infection presenting as isolated neurological symptoms in a patient with CVID. The patient subsequently improved following steroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, and convalescent plasma (CP). The latte… Show more

“…For these exploratory analyses, 13 uncontrolled large case series without individual patient data enrolling 358 participants were included in descriptive analysis . In this study, 125 case reports or case series enrolling 265 participants were included for patient-level exploratory analyses. One study was included in both the descriptive analysis and the individual patient data analysis because individual patient data were available only for a subgroup of patients.…”

The patient presented with one week history of difficulty walking and was found to have an acute cerebellar syndrome and myeloradiculopathy in the setting of mild COVID-19 disease.…”

“…The patient presented with one week history of difficulty walking and was found to have an acute cerebellar syndrome and myeloradiculopathy in the setting of mild COVID-19 disease. Her neurological function improved following administration of convalescent plasma, steroids, and intravenous immunoglobulin, though it is impossible to draw conclusions on therapy from this case alone [ 103 ].…”
