Abstract:Introduction: Acute esophageal necrosis (AEN) is a rare clinical entity, with a multifactorial etiopathogenesis and characterized by the presence of a black esophagus seen during the upper gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy.Case Report: A 76-year-old man with AEN was presented, whose UGI endoscopy revealed circumferential necrosis throughout the entirety of the esophageal mucosa with concomitant preservation of gastric mucosa.
