Acute pituitary apoplexy complicating a pituitary macroadenoma

Abstract: Pituitary apoplexy is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition caused by either haemorrhage or infarction of the pituitary gland. In most cases, a pre-existing pituitary macroadenoma is present.
