Adaptability

Abstract

The term adaptability has been applied in several areas of psychological research to refer to overlapping but distinct phenomena. Adaptability predisposes individuals' adaptation and adjustment in novel, unaccustomed, and changed environments. While adaptability can be viewed as a composite trait, several distal antecedents such as cognitive ability, personality, and goal orientation have been explored. The conceptualization of adaptability across different areas and its relevant predictors will be discussed herein, followed by a summary of emerging research areas.
