The improvements in technology made technology tools invade almost every field, including education. Online assessment tools have various functions for students and teachers. Students are able to use their mobile devices in the classroom, while teachers are able to use the tools for formative and summative evaluation purposes and for getting to know their students. Teachers also get feedback on their instructional practices by analyzing student responses. Previous studies found that undergraduate students in Faculty of Education in Turkey do not have a very positive attitude for geography courses, because most of the students take geography courses almost every year until they enter the university. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of in-class online assessment tools on the attitudes of students at undergraduate level towards geography courses. In addition, the changes in students’ attitudes are examined for various variables. The study was designed in a quasi-experimental model with experiment and control groups. The study also implemented pre-tests and post-tests. Geography Attitude Scale developed by Sözen (2019) was used as data collection tool. The study’s sample consists of 70 students whose majors are Primary School Teacher in Faculty of Education. An online assessment tool was implemented for seven weeks in experiment group, while the control group did not receive the said tool. The study found that using online assessment tools significantly improved students’ attitude towards geography course.

The aim of this study is to adapt “Abbreviated Science Anxiety Scale”(ASAS) developed by Megreya et al. (2021) to Turkish and to investigate the reliability and validity of Turkish-ASAS. In the adaptation study, some steps were determined and implemented. After the English-Turkish translation validity of ASAS was ensured, data were collected within the scope of the survey study for reliability and validity studies. The study group in the scale adaptation study are experts (teaching staff in science education, Science teacher, and English teacher) and 410 middle school students (Grade 5, 6, 7 and 8). After the descriptive statistics and item analysis were made, a exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed to reveal the factor structure. The adaptation stage findings shows the two-factor structure of ASAS. These factors are “learning science anxiety” and “science evaluation anxiety”. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for ASAS-Turkish was calculated as 0.703. As in the original scale, ASAS-Turkish is a 5-point Likert type scale and consisting of 9 items. The results show that ASAS-Turkish is a short, valid and reliable tool. Low scores on the ASAS indicate low anxiety and high scores indicate high anxiety. It can be used to guide and enhance scientific study.

Bu araştırmada bilim fuarlarına katılımın ortaokul öğrencilerinin fene yönelik tutumlarına etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Tek gruplu ön test son test zayıf deneysel desen olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırma 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılının 2. döneminde Marmara Bölgesi’nde bulunan bir devlet okulunda 12 hafta süre ile TÜBİTAK 4006 Bilim Fuarları Destekleme Programı kapsamında, kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi yöntemi ile seçilmiş farklı sınıflarda öğrenim gören 32 ortaokul öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Tosun & Genç (2015) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan Fen Tutum Ölçeği (FTÖ) kullanılmıştır. Bu ölçek bilim fuarı projeleri çalışmalarından önce ve bilim fuarı sunumlarından sonra olmak üzere toplam iki kez uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda bilim fuarlarına katılım göstermenin öğrencilerin fene yönelik tutumlarını anlamlı bir biçimde geliştirdiği saptanmıştır. Bulgular, araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin cinsiyetlerinin fene yönelik tutum üzerinde anlamlı bir fark oluşturmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Benzer şekilde sınıf seviyesinin fene yönelik tutumda anlamlı bir değişiklik meydana getirmediği görülmüştür. Buna karşın öğrencilerin sınıf seviyelerinin artış gösterdikçe fene yönelik tutum puanlarında azalmalar meydana geldiği araştırmanın dikkat çeken bulguları arasındadır. Öğrencilerin bilim fuarlarına aktif bir biçimde katılımlarının teşvik edilmesinin ve uygulamalı bir biçimde proje eğitimlerine alınmalarının öğrenme süreçlerine olumlu katkılar sağlayacağı ve fene yönelik tutumlarının olumlu yönde gelişimini sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.
