Adaptive guidance and control of uncertain lunar landers in terminal landing phases

Abstract: A novel double-loop guidance and control strategy for under-actuated lunar landers in terminal landing phases is developed by using adaptive nonlinear control approach in this study. To derive the main thrust input and inner-loop desired attitude trajectory, the outer-loop position tracking guidance law is firstly developed based on the hyperbolic tangent functions to guarantee the constrained thrust and singularity avoidance of the desired attitudes. Then, to avoid the complicated analytic-derivative computin… Show more

“…The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter ensured the presence of iron and titanium oxides under the moon's surface. The moon is a pioneering site for research on other planets [ 1 , 2 ]. As for the feasible advantages of lunar research, the Indians, Americans, Japanese, Europeans, and Chinese scientists plan to go back to the moon [ 3 ].…”

“…As we all know, advanced space missions require the spacecraft with high‐precision attitude tracking performance, such as on‐orbit services, 1,2 rendezvous and docking, 3 and so on 4 . However, it will continue to be affected by various uncertain factors as the spacecraft operates in space, including space environment and model uncertainty caused by changes of quality characteristics.…”
