Adaptive management: potential and limitations for ecological governance

Abstract: Adaptive management is reviewed a paradigm that addresses a widely perceived need to give more prominence to ecological imperatives. Its contribution to the management of complex problem situations is addressed with reference to the facilitation of social learning and the creation of institutions.
