Summary In this paper, an adaptive optimal control strategy is proposed for a class of strict‐feedback nonlinear systems with output constraints by using dynamic surface control. The controller design procedure is divided into two parts. One is the design of feedforward controller and the other is the design of optimal controller. To guarantee the satisfaction of output constraints in feedforward controller, nonlinear mapping is utilized to transform the constrained system into an unconstrained system. Neural‐network based adaptive dynamic programming algorithm is employed to approximate the optimal cost function and the optimal control law. By theoretical analysis, all the signals in the closed‐loop system are proved to be semi‐globally uniformly ultimately bounded and the output constraints are not violated. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

This paper investigates the issue of neural network adaptive finite-time tracking control for stochastic nonlinear systems subject to full state constraints. In the controller design process, neural networks are employed to cope with the packed uncertainties and the log-type barrier Lyapunov functions are introduced to prevent the violation of the state constraints. By using approximated-based neural networks and adaptive backstepping technique, a novel finite-time control approach is presented. The designed control method not only makes the tracking error converge to a small neighborhood of the origin in a finite time, but also surmounts the effect of state constraints to system performance. A numerical simulation example is provided to illustrate the validity of the designed control method.

This paper addresses the problem of stability in terms of two measures for impulsive switched nonlinear systems. By using multiple Lyapunov functions (MLFs), we establish some sufficient conditions of all kinds of stability in terms of two measures for impulsive switched nonlinear systems. Moreover, the derivatives of MLF in our results only satisfy the corresponding conditions in a circular region.Meanwhile, the proposed results also improve the related existing results on the same topic by removing some restrictive conditions. Finally, some illustrative examples are presented to verify the validity of our proposed methods.
