Adaptness Assessment of Pedestrian Street During Crises Like Covid-19

Abstract: The modern urban planning is focused towards encouraging pedestrian movement by ensuring their safety and comfort during the walk. Further, COVID-19 pandemic has abruptly obstructed our normal way of life that includes of our local as well as global transport systems. There is greater need of making the public places more pedestrian friendly with the provision of appropriate walking and cycling networks, which can tackle the social distancing issues. This paper presents a novel approach to quantitatively analy… Show more

“…The extrapolation, for the year 2031, has been done to comprehend the behavior of the system model. The functional pattern of the system under different alternative conditions has been thoroughly inspected by generating various scenarios, and then tested to reach at alternative strategic options for finding conclusions [9]. Finally, the plausible policy recommendation has been prepared to achieve optimum housing development with least effect on slum formation and environmental degradation.…”

“…In the present research, the system dynamic model has been developed by implementing the system dynamics theory. The system dynamics model developed for the present investigation, considers housing as a system consisting of various interrelated and interdependent subsystems (figure 10) [9]. The system dynamics model has been developed on the basis of the existing data, after understanding the level of influence of the parameters that decide the function of the system (equation 1 to 9).…”

“…Based upon which, the detailed spatial analysis can be performed on each settlement to benchmark the present scenario and prioritize areas for intervention, and also identify the methods and level of intervention required. The space syntax method has been adopted by many researches to get more relevant results in these cases [10,11].…”
