“…Overall, the yields in this work were much higher than the reported HLA(2.6%-19.9%) and FLA results (3.72%-30.0%) via composting of food wastes [31][32][33] or manure [34][35][36] , presumably because no organic matter was consumed through microbial metabolism.…”

“…Foam box small pile fermentation was employed for microorganism screening and small-scale feed SSF. During screening, CM, which is commonly used for compost ( Zhang et al., 2021 ), was employed as a positive control to detect heating in foam box small pile fermentation. The temperature-heating profile (THP) of the CM treatment ( Figure 1 ) showed that the AASMS-supplemented CM could be efficiently fermented, and the microbial metabolic process-produced heat increased the temperature earlier than the CK treatment, which was natural fermentation without artificial inoculation with foreign microorganisms.…”

“…It seemed very difficult to find the law of HIAP dosage influencing HA and FA. During PG-amended chicken manure/corn stover composting [14], the change of HA and FA contents along the composting time always show in the following order: CK > 5% > 10% PG treatment. In terms of the effect of HIAP dose on HA and FA, the HA during whole SS composting and the FA at the thermophilic phase were similar to the reported results [14].…”

“…Attapulgite (AP) is a hydrous magnesium-aluminum silicate mineral with a chainlayered structure, large surface area, and excellent cation exchange capacity, which has the characteristics of low cost, good biology, and soil compatibility in soil application. AP has been demonstrated as a promising amendment to reduce the phytotoxicity of heavy metals (HMs) for direct SS soil utilization [7,8] and as a promising additive to reduce the bioavailability of HMs [9][10][11] and the emission of greenhouse gases [12,13], enhance the degradation of organic pollutants [10,13], promote composting process [14] during the composting of different biosolid wastes. To our best knowledge, research on the effect of AP and its dosage on SS composting humification is hitherto rare based on the heterogeneity of the SS composting matrix.…”
