Addressing the dauntingness of formulation: The value of considering empathy as “grasping”

Abstract: Aims and objectives To explore the value of using Karl Jaspers’ lived experience concept of ‘grasping’ in remediating the reported dauntingness of formulation. Conclusions Formulation can be construed as both the process and explication of understanding why a patient is presenting in a particular way.
