Abstract: BACKGROUND: Unannounced pill counts conducted in patients' homes is a valid objective method for monitoring medication adherence that is unfortunately costly and often impractical. Conducting unannounced pill counts by telephone may be a viable alternative for objectively assessing medication adherence.
