Adoption of a Newly Introduced Dermal Matrix: Preliminary Experience and Future Directions

Abstract: Introduction. Acellular dermal matrix (ADM) products are adopted in the management of injuries to soft tissues. ADMs have been increasingly employed for their clinical advantages, and they are acquiring relevance in the future of plastic surgery. The aim of our study is to evaluate the application of ADMs in our patients who could not undergo fast reconstruction. Materials and Methods. We performed a retrospective study on 12 patients who underwent ADM placement for scalp and limb surgical reconstructions at t… Show more

“…However, ADM also has advantages in the treatment of chronic vascular ulcers and can improve the healing rate and wound closure rate [ 23 ]. Pelanc, a double-layer structure of ADM, is generally used as a pretreatment for skin grafting, can improve the survival rate of skin grafting and accelerate wound healing [ 24 ]. We treated a case of hand trauma with a skin defect on the palm.…”

“…A handful of studies indicate regeneration of full-thickness skin defects using ADM, and without skin graft or ap surgery (19)(20)(21). PELNAC, a doublelayer structure of ADM, is generally used as a pretreatment before skin grafting, which can improve the survival rate of skin grafting and accelerate the wound healing (22). We once treated a case of hand trauma with a skin defect on the palm.…”

“…It does, however, have drawbacks (for example, infection) (93). ADM has so been the subject of investigations to replace the mesh in these operations (Figure 1D) (1,2,21,29,30,33,36,68,(81)(82)(83)(84)(85)(86)(87)(88)(89)(90)(91)(94)(95)(96)(97)(98)(99)(100)(101).…”
