Industry 4.0 is a set of technologies that companies require to promote innovation strategies and obtain a rapid response in dynamic markets. It focuses mainly on interconnectivity, digital technology, predictive analytics and machine learning to revolutionize the way companies operate and develop. Therefore, this article proposes and motivates the implementation of Industry 4.0 in organizations. Studying the state of the art and reviewing the current situation of business intelligence (BI) technology, the way it has positively impacted organizations at the economic and business level in terms of decision-making and some success stories implemented in different business, academic, social and governmental environments. Moreover, it addresses the future expected for Industry 4.0 primarily in BI and how companies should face this revolution. This article provides knowledge contribution about the current state and positive consequences of Industry 4.0, and high development in technology when implemented in the organization and the harmonization between production and intelligent digital technology.

A lot of focus can be attributed to the rising importance of Business Intelligence Systems (BIS), which have been viewed as a broad category of technologies, applications, and processes for analyzing data to help its users make better decisions. Although Business Intelligence (BI) can help improve a company’s performance, many companies often fail to realize the expected benefits of BI, and these projects are considered failures in themselves. Hence, it is essential to consider Critical Success Factors (CSFs) to obtain a successful implementation. However, very few existing research papers have associated CSFs with the various implementation stages and roles. This research study aims to design a framework that will embed various CSFs for BIS, categorized by the different stages, categories, priorities, and roles involved. Following the evaluation process, the study’s main results show that the proposed framework was beneficial for BI implementation as there was no such framework that interconnects multiple components such as CSFs, implementation stages, categorization of CSFs, prioritization of CSFs and implementation roles.

This study focuses on trailers’ utilization turn-around and fleets deployment of haulage industry in Malaysia. The study proposes a framework for Drop Trailer Method (DTM) which is suitable at present competitive business and suggest for specific mechanism in maximizing of fleets capacity. The ratio of 1:7 for prime movers and trailers was suggested which suitable for movement planning and better scheduling. It reflects with a complete system that requires in monitoring on the deployment of the machineries especially on the timing of DTM. Haulage industry involved with huge capital investment which therefore an appropriate planning and optimizing the trailers are significant. This is an exploratory study where the interviews were carried out among the 12 nominated haulage companies and its customers and at the end a qualitative research was adopted. Through the implementation on the proposed framework of DTM, the operational in haulage industry will be more effective and better impacts on trailers’ performance. The results indicated that the effectiveness of DTM is based on coordination and utilization of trailers. The DTM framework is suggested to be used in the measurement on the performance of trailers’ turn-around of haulage industry in future.
