Adoption of Cloud-Based E-Government Services: A Bibliometric Analysis and Research Agenda

Abstract

Studies on the adoption of cloud computing in the public sector institutions, including governments remain preliminary as most of the reported works in this aspect focus more on the technical perspective of cloud computing and the potential of saving cost through its adoption. Although numerous studies have been conducted on cloud computing adoption, a bibliometric study on the adoption of cloud computing in the public sector is yet to be conducted. Therefore, this study strives to fill this gap by embarking on a comprehensive evaluation of the adoption of cloud computing and the trends in E-government research between 2009 and 2021. To achieve this aim, bibliometric performance analysis and science mapping techniques were employed in this study to analyze most of the publications on cloud computing adoption in the public institutions, focusing more on the most coted ad most productive countries, the commonly used keyword, and the most cited authors in this context. A research agenda was also presented in his study with the intent of contributing perspectives for further studies in this area.
