ADRB3 polymorphism rs4994 (Trp64Arg) associates significantly with bodyweight elevation and dyslipidaemias in Saudis but not rs1801253 (Arg389Gly) polymorphism in ARDB1

Abstract: BackgroundIn some populations, obesity and body weight related disorders show a correlation with polymorphisms in three subtypes of beta-adrenoceptor (β1, β2, and β3) [ADRB1, ADRB2 and ADRB3] genes. We scanned for the polymorphism of Arg389Gly (rs1801253) in ADRB1 and Trp64Arg (rs4994) in ADRB3 genes in Saudi population to determine association, if any, of these polymorphisms with obesity and related disorders.MethodsWe studied 329 non-related adults (33.1% men and 66.9% women), aged 18–36 years. Anthropometri… Show more

“…The ADRB3 gene encodes the protein involved in the lipolysis regulation. Rs4994 polymorphism (Figure 8) reduces the sensitivity of protein, changing its structure, due to which there is a slowdown of oxidation and increased fat accumulation, causing obesity [25,26]. Apolipoprotein A5 is the protein that is encoded by the APOA5 gene.…”

“…Sự thay thế này làm ảnh hưởng đến liên kết giữa thụ thể với noradrenalin và protein G trong các tế bào mỡ [4]. Do đó, đa hình này sẽ làm giảm phân giải lipid trong mô mỡ trắng [5], từ đó có thể làm tăng nguy cơ mắc các bệnh chuyển hoá như: đái tháo đường [6], béo phì [7], hội chứng chuyển hoá [8].…”
