AdS braneworld with backreaction

Abstract: Abstract:We review the tachyon model derived from the dynamics of a 3-brane moving in the AdS 5 bulk. The bulk geometry is based on the Randall-Sundrum II model extended to include the radion. The effective tachyon Lagrangian is modified due to the back-reaction of the brane on the bulk geometry.

“…The radion field has been proposed as an inflaton [20]. It has been shown [21,22] that the interaction of the radion with the tachyon can alter the tachyon equation of state: by averaging over large scales the effective equation of state describes the warm dark matter. One of our aims here is to answer the question whether radion could drastically change the early cosmology in the framework of the RSII braneworld model.…”

“…[23,24]. It is a simple matter to show that this additional 3-brane behaves effectively as a tachyon with the inverse quartic potential [22]. The tachyon model of this kind falls into the class of the power-law tachyon potentials V (θ) ∝ θ −n with n > 2 which drive a dark-matter attractor [25]: for θ → ∞, the pressure tends to unity very quickly with the unpleasant feature of cold dark matter (CDM) domination at the end of inflation.…”
