“…Ren et al studied the adsorption of fluoride by hydrotalcite, observing that, on the surface of the sheets, there were up to 6 exchangeable positions with fluoride ions, with those appearing at high field being bonded to Mg cations, and those at low field to Al cations [37]. In addition, it has also been reported that fluoride can replace the bridging oxygen between two metal cations, so according to these data, the bands found at − 156 and − 177 ppm could also be ascribed to bridging fluoride [92,89,90,93], in which the metal cation has a octahedral coordination, as in AlF 3 [94].
