“…Similar results were determined by Gulen and Demircivi [45] who determined values of 0.9224 and 0.8227 for R 2 and R 2 Adj coefficients, respectively. So, the authors concluded that these values indicated good fitness and high significance for the statistical model.…”

“…As depicted in Fig S3(b), using an adsorbent dose of 0.25g L -1 at pH 7.5, 30 mg L -1 initial CIP concentration, and 46.25 min contact time resulted in 96.02 % CIP removal, whereas using an adsorbent dose of 1.0 g L -1 at similar adsorption conditions almost completely removed CIP from the solution. A similar adsorption trend was observed by (Gulen and Demircivi, 2020) in the adsorption of CIP from water using a 2: 1 dioctahedral clay structure with the increase of CIP adsorption from 1.8% (0.034 g L -1 ) to 99.2% (2 g L -1 ).…”

“…Activated carbon presents a great disadvantage since clay minerals, such as kaolinite and montmorillonite, are much more economical, thus environmental remediation via activated carbon is greatly limited. Based on this, a series of studies have shown that these minerals have a high affinity for emerging antibiotic-type contaminants, such as tetracyclines [95][96][97], ciprofloxacin [89,[98][99][100], and sulfonamide [101], among others. Maged et al (2020) reported the removal of tetracyclines through the use of the thermal activation of bentonite because it has better properties than does natural bentonite; it was determined that the adsorption of the monolayer measured by the Langmuir model was 156.7 and 388.1 mg g -1 for natural bentonite and heatactivated bentonite, respectively [92].…”
