Adsorptive stripping voltammetric determination of netilmicin in the presence of formaldehyde

Abstract: A linear sweep adsorptive stripping voltammetric method for the determination of netilmicin in the presence of formaldehyde has been proposed for the first time. In the presence of 3.0 x 10(-3) g ml(-1) formaldehyde, netilmicin exhibits a sensitive cathodic peak at -1.30 V (vs. the saturated calomel electrode, SCE) in a medium of Britton-Robinson buffer (pH 8.7) with a scan rate of 100 mV s(-1) after a preconcentration period of 120 s at -1.10 V (vs. SCE). The peak current showed a linear dependence on the net… Show more

“…In the proposed adsorptive stripping techniques, there are no complicated pretreatment or time-consuming extraction steps other than centrifugation when it is applied to determine of ZP in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids such as human urine. Moreover, the proposed technique was highly selective, sensitive, rapid and easy to perform and can be applied in routine clinical drug monitoring studies [6][7][8].…”

“…However, sensitivity is rather low, and some impurities like 1-N-ethylgaramine, which lacks the double bond, cannot be detected. Polarographic and voltametric methods for determination of netilmicin have also been described [24,25]. Direct detection using ion-pair LC combined with MS [26], and pulsed electrochemical detection (PED) [27] have also been reported.…”
