Advanced Cement System for Acid Gas Injection Wells

Abstract: Petroleum Development Oman, PDO, is planning to improve ultimate recovery of condensate from a retrograde condensate gas field by reducing the rate of reservoir pressure decline. This shall be accomplished by re-injecting into the reservoir some of the produced gas and all of the acid gas extracted from the sweetening process. The composition of the injected gas will vary over time, from 15% CO2 and 3% H2S to 56% CO2 and 10% H2S. These combinations of CO2 and H2S can cause the wells cement to deteriorate. Port… Show more

“…Although the device can be used for dynamic pressure compensation, the corrosion temperature is limited and further temperature rise tests cannot be carried out. To better test the performance of corrosion samples, Fakhreldin et al (2010) prepared cement stone samples according to standard core specifications. The experimental conditions were set at 90 °C and 28 MPa.…”

“…In recent years, exploration and exploitation of marine oil-gas resources in China has come into a prosperous period of discovery.Series breakthroughs have been obtained in Tarim basin and northeast Sichuan basin, and acoording to predictions, greater discoveries will be obtained in the future. However, high temperature & high pressure (HT/HP) and formation water with sour gas(H 2 S/CO 2 )are two unavoidable tough problems in the exploration and exploitation of marine oil-gas reservoirs [1][2][3][4][5] .…”
