Abstract:We report a rare case of advanced ovarian mucinous adenocarcinoma in a pregnant woman. A 28-year-old pregnant Japanese woman was diagnosed with an ovarian tumor 8 cm in diameter at a local hospital. She was sent to a private hospital at 25 weeks of gestation because of the growing ovarian tumor. Advanced ovarian carcinoma with widespread intraabdominal dissemination was detected by laparotomy at the hospital and she was referred to our hospital for further management. At 27 weeks of gestation, she underwent ce… Show more
“…CT scan shows a low-density, encapsulated, thin-walled mass that is not enhanced by contrast medium [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9]. Previously reported magnetic resonance imaging showed the same pattern as CT [7]. In our case, an encapsulated 10 cm diameter mass was located over the uterus on CT.…”

A rare case of mucinous adenocarcinoma of the cecum in a pregnant woman is described. A 32-year-old Korean woman was diagnosed as having an abdominal tumor immediately after giving birth. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated a smooth mass measuring 10 cm in diameter on the right side of the abdomen. Acute abdomen developed 3 days after birth. At emergency surgery, volvulus of a polypoid tumor was detected at the cecum apart from the normal appendix. We successfully performed a tumorectomy; however, histopathological examination demonstrated mucinous adenocarcinoma with a massive blood clot.

“…In der Literatur wurden sowohl das optimale Tumordebulking mit Beendigung der Schwangerschaft oder mit gleichzeitiger Entbindung beschrieben, aber auch ein abwartendes Management oder die Operation mit intra-bzw postpartaler Chemotherapie [2,19,24,55,71]. Eine weitere Option ist die Tumorentfernung in der Schwangerschaft und die postpartale Komplettierung des optimalen Debulkings bzw Stagings.…”
