Faced with the ongoing evolution of the media landscape, media and communication science is constant-ly asking itself new questions concerning the tension between stability and change in social communication. In this context, many relevant topics exist for which there are still no publications that would systematically evaluate what we know (empirically and non-empirically) so far and what conclusions can be drawn from existing knowledge. This volume aims to provide systematic answers to important current or continually relevant questions in the field, with contributions that are entirely focused on a specific question, thus leaving room for thorough arguments. The volume is dedicated to the memory of Professor Wolfram Peiser. With contributions by Hans-Bernd Brosius, Felix Frey, Romy Fröhlich, Christina Holtz-Bacha, Benjamin Krämer, Philipp Müller, Christoph Neuberger, Carsten Reinemann, Anna-Luisa Sacher, Johanna Schindler, Klaus Schönbach and Cornelia Wallner.

En esta investigación se estudian y analizan las propuestas relativas a la participación ciudadana y a las acciones de innovación en las 13 corporaciones de medios públicos autonómicos españoles. Tras un examen de la literatura científica, el estudio comparativo y de análisis de contenido de la actividad de las corporaciones públicas en España, y mediante la realización de entrevistas semiestructuradas a los responsables de las áreas de innovación y participación de las diversas radiotelevisiones, se determina su implicación con esta tarea de renovación de formatos y narrativas. Se constata una escasez de propuestas y de coordinación entre ellas, y una manifiesta falta de relación entre los presupuestos y la generación de contenidos alternativos. Esta investigación finaliza con la propuesta de acciones para implementar la participación y el desarrollo de iniciativas de innovación, entre las cuales destaca la necesidad de incorporar la alfabetización mediática como objetivo central de los PSM.

Digital media use can connect citizens across geographic boundaries into coordinated action by distributing political information, enabling the formation of groups, and facilitating political talk. These activities can lead to political consumerism, which is an important and popular form of political participation that translates across geographic borders. This article uses original survey data ( n = 9284) to examine the relationship between digital media use and political consumerism in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Talking politics online, joining social groups on social media, and searching online for political information increase participation in political consumerism. However, the strength of these positive correlations differs by age, country, and mode of political consumerism. Joining social groups on social media has a much larger effect size on buycotting compared to boycotting. The findings imply that social groups are more salient in the mobilization process for buycotting campaigns compared to boycotting campaigns.
