“…Rehmannioside A can improve immune activity. 32 Rehmapicrogenin has been shown to exhibit an anti-inflammatory effect by significantly inhibiting NO production. 33 Oligosaccharides can enhance the proliferation of skeletal myoblasts, protect and induce differentiation of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stromal cells and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.…”

“…In both LDD and ZDD, Radix Rehmanniae is the monarch drug, which mainly contains iridoids and its glycoside, violet ketones, flavonoids, saccharides, amino acid, and volatile oils (Liu, Yin, et al, 2020). Many studies focusing on the pharmacological effects of Radix Rehmanniae suggested that it can regulate the level of estrogen and exhibit estrogen-like activity (Luo et al, 2020).In recent laboratory research, Tian and co-workers reported that both water and ethanol extracts of Radix Rehmanniae promoted the secretion of estradiol from ovarian granulosa cells and the expression of estrogen receptor α (ERα) on spleen cells in vitro (Tian et al, 2017). Furthermore, another laboratory study conducted by Zhao et al demonstrated that rehmapicrogenin contributed to the estrogenic effects of Radix Rehmanniae.…”

“…Recent pharmacological studies have reported that R. glutinosa possesses anti-oxidant, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and immunoregulatory effects [7]. In addition, processed R. glutinosa roots protect against aging, oxidation, and cancer and improve marrow and essence [8]. However, steam processing could alter the contents of some compounds, thereby affecting pharmacological activity [9].…”
