“…Cytokinins have been reported to enhance the biosynthesis of anthocyanin. 20 , 21 In our study, we exposed Malus spectabilis leaves to a 20 μM concentration of the cytokinins analog 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) for a period of 3 days. Subsequently, we measured the content of anthocyanin in the leaves, and extracted total RNA from the leaves to perform RT-qPCR experiments.…”

“…Further investigation revealed that MsMYB62-like could directly bind to the promoters of the anthocyanin structural genes MsDFR and MsANS , resulting in a decrease in their expression levels. Intriguingly, cytokinins, known enhancers of anthocyanin levels, 20 , 21 exhibited a dual effect by enhancing the expression of MsDFR and MsANS , while simultaneously downregulating the expression of MsMYB62-like . These findings propose a potential mechanism wherein cytokinins suppress the expression of MsMYB62-like , disrupting the MsMYB62-like- MsDFR / MsANS module and ultimately leading to an increase in anthocyanin biosynthesis.…”

“…It is a commonly used plant auxin analogue in production. In sweet cherry, it was found that NAA treatment can increase the content of acetyl-CoA carboxylase complex (ACC) and ABA-glucose ester (ABA-GE), and ACC overexpression can increase the content of malonyl-CoA, providing sufficient substrate for the synthesis of chalcones and flavonoids [ 59 ]. While ABA-glucose ester is the main storage form of ABA [ 59 ].…”

The results of Luo et al showed that auxin treatment could increase the expression of CHS protein and the accumulation of total flavonoids in grape fruits [ 60 ].…”

“…In angiosperms, anthocyanins play an important role in attracting animals to pollinate and disperse seeds (Landi et al, 2015). The anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway and transcriptional regulatory mechanism have been extensively studied in many species (Jaakola, 2013; Wang et al, 2023). Anthocyanins are biosynthesized by phenylalanine metabolism in the cytoplasm and transferred to the vacuole for storage after a series of modifications.…”
