Abstract:This article reviews the historical development of aerobic conditioning. The many physiological effects of aerobic conditioning are presented including the effects on cardiovascular, muscular, and neuromuscular health leading to increased physical endurance and increased lifespan. Aerobic exercise prescription follows the frequency, intensity, time, and type, as well as the volume and progression principles.
