“…The MIP OES is a multi-elemental analytical technique that uses a nitrogen plasma as an atomizer and this is the main differential of this technique, as nitrogen is cheaper than the other gases normally used to generate the plasma in other emission or mass spectrometry techniques, such as the argon gas used in ICP OES or ICP-MS, or less dangerous than acetylene or nitrous oxide used in techniques of atomic absorption (AA). 14 Pinto et al, 15 for instance, determined the contents of Al, Ca, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Mg, Na and Zn in chicken breast samples using MIP OES after a treatment performed in a block digester equipped with a reflux system, whereas Sá et al 16 determined trace elements in meat by MIP OES after solid-phase extraction. Infant cereal samples were analyzed for the estimation of the total content and bioaccessible fractions of thirteen elements, including essential and potentially toxic trace elements.…”

“…Sample preparation was executed by closed vessel microwave-assisted digestion using diluted HNO 3 . Sulfur and phosphorus were determined under the form of their adducts with O 2 ( 32 S 16 O + , 34 S 16 O + and 31 P 16 O + ) from the reaction cell, and Na was determined in MS/MS mode ( 23 Na + ). Aerosol dilution was successfully employed in this procedure, as the authors reported high concentrations of this metal present in the two tested oligonucleotides (28.1%, w/w and 14.6%, w/w), then a lower matrix interference is expected when comparing with PN without AD.…”

“…A new sample introduction method using aerosol dilution for MIP-OES was described. 22 Signal emissions from N 2 + and OH species were monitored for plasma diagnostics and solvent plasma load. N 2 + : OH signal intensity ratio measurements suggested that aerosol dilution was a desolvation process which could reduce the solvent load, thus increasing plasma energy.…”
