This chapter will discuss specific mass school shootings that occurred in areas throughout the United States, beginning with the Columbine School shooting in 1999. This chapter is designed to give the reader a closer look into the devastation these families experienced. Although the surviving children and their families continue to live through the horror of their child being killed in the manner in which they were, the media is forced to move on to another city, or another state to cover another school shooting. We now have a nation with an “increasingly growing number” of traumatized families.
