Ag2CdI4: Synthesis, characterization and investigation the strain lattice and grain size

Abstract: In this work the Ag 2 CdI 4 nanostructures have been synthesized via a solid state reaction from reaction of AgI and CdI 2 as precursors. The effect of the mole ratio of precursors, time and temperature of reaction have been optimized to achieve the best product on morphology and purity. Nanostructures have been characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman (FT-IR) techniques, X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Ultravi… Show more

“…Optical band gaps of samples ( E g ) may be estimated based on the optical absorption spectra using the Tauc equation where hv is the photon energy and α is absorbent, A is a material constant, and n is 2 for direct transitions. The optical band gap is obtained by extrapolating the linear portion of the (α hv ) n curve versus hv to zero. , Figure a inset image shows the curve (α hv ) n versus hv of γ-CuI with different particle sizes. The band gap of γ-CuI with particle sizes ca.…”

“…The optical properties of the samples have been investigated by UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopic (DRS) and photoluminescence (PL) studies to determine the band gaps of the samples. It is well known that the band gap is dependent on various factors like crystallite size, dopant concentration, and structural parameters. ,,, The DRS spectra of CZMS and CZNP are shown in Figure a. It can be ascertained from the DRS spectrum of CZMS that it displays an absorption edge at around 775 nm.…”
