Agallochins J-L, New Isopimarane Diterpenoids from Excoecaria Agallocha L

Abstract: The ethyl acetate extract of Excoecaria agallocha L. furnished three more new isopimarane diterpenoids, 11alpha,14alpha-dihydroxy-7,15-isopimaradien-3-one, agallochin J (1), 3alpha, 1alpha,14alpha-trihydroxyisopimara-7,15-diene, agallochin K (2) and 6alpha,14alpha,17-trihydroxy-7,15-isopimaradien-3-one, agallochin L.

“…Chemical investigation of the roots of mangrove plant Excoecaria agallocha L., collected from the Godavari Estuary at 16°58 0 N, 82°15 0 E, led to the isolation of agallochins D (9) and agallochins J -L (11 -13) at the year of 2000 and 2003, respectively ( Figure 3). [8] [9] Meanwhile, a isopimarane diterpene, named rhizophorins E (10; Figure 3), was isolated from ethyl acetate extract of the roots of Rhizophora mucronata obtained from Mangalore Coast of India by the same research group. [10] Two isopimarane diterpenes, compounds 14 and 15 ( Figure 3) were isolated from the methanol extracts of the stems of mangrove plant Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, which were obtained from Xiamen of P. R. China.…”
