“…Averages and standard error of the mean (SEM) are shown for each age group a yes means cyclic swelling; no means no swelling; irr means irregular swelling b Lower detection limit was 0.16 mg/ml c % of animals ovulating in the Old group is significantly higher than the % in the Young group. The Middle-aged group does not differ from the other two the present analysis, studies of this hormone in humans (Ledger 2010;Shebl et al 2011) and cynomolgus monkeys (Appt et al 2009) suggest that serum levels of AMH are a good index of the number of oocytes present in the ovary. Further study with a larger number of chimpanzees may confirm this pattern in these apes as well.…”

“…The main aim of our study was to provide age-specific serum AMH reference values and analyze the distribution of basal serum AMH levels in women of reproductive age. In a retrospective study, Shebl et al [18] evaluated the age-related distribution of basal serum AMH levels in women of reproductive age and concluded that there was wide variation in serum AMH levels in each year of age analyzed, with even young women at risk of reduced ovarian reserves. To the best our knowledge, this is one of the first studies to date to examine age-specific medians, for serum AMH in women undergoing evaluations at Turkish fertility centers.…”

“…Nevertheless, anatomopathological evaluation remains an essential tool, yielding an initial analysis of the presence of follicles, as well as the presence or absence of malignant cells. In order to predict ovarian follicular density and help us select the best indications for OTC, a first report on age-related distribution of basal serum AMH levels in women of reproductive age was recently published by Shebl et al [54]. In the near future, OTC indications may be adapted to take age and serum AMH concentrations into account, even if the exact role and involvement of AMH still needs to be elucidated.…”
