In a companion research study, we [20] have shown that epilepsy patients could have multiple associated comorbidities; psychiatric diagnosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma, and diabetes are the top five most prevalent comorbidities. The cost of epilepsy estimated from this study represents total health plan paid costs for epilepsy patients during the year 2009 over and above the baseline cost for the non-epilepsy controls.…”
