“…After placing the materials, the specimens were light-activated for 20 s at both the top and bottom surfaces using a light-emitting diode (LED) light-curing unit (Radii, SDI, Bayswater, Australia), which was continuously monitored to ensure that 900 mW/cm 2 of irradiance was applied to each specimen. Each group of specimens was then divided into two subgroups according to the surface finishing treatment applied (n = 7): no treatment (non-polished group) or finishing/polishing (polished group) using a complete sequence of Sof-Lex polishing discs (Pop On Orange series, 3M ESPE), from medium to extra-fine, 15 for 15 s each, followed by the application of felt discs (Diamond flex 12 mm, FGM, Joinville, Brazil) and diamond paste (Diamond AC II, FGM). The polishing procedure was performed by holding the specimen with tweezers.…”

“…The translucency of composite materials before and after treatment is usually measured using the translucency parameter (TP) [22]. TP was obtained by calculating the color difference of the specimen over a black (B) and white background (W) according to the following formula: TP=[(LWLB)2+(aWaB)2+(bWbB)2]12 If the material is absolutely opaque, the TP is zero.…”

“…Resin composite's mimetism toward the surrounding tooth structure, as well as the stability of the esthetic result, are important clinical parameters for a long‐lasting esthetic restoration. However, it is well‐known that resin composite restorations present change in optical properties with time . The magnitude of the optical degradation is influenced by factors related to the material, and by various abrasive/erosive challenges related to the oral hygiene, as well as the composition of the diet.…”
