“…1 the nucleus of aggregates is mostly occupied by the PPO chains of L121 whereas on the right side the core of aggregates is crowded with AOT's alkyl (C 8 ) chains. In fact, at low AOT fractions, the I 1 /I 3 ratios are similar to those previously reported for aggregates of PEO-PPO-PEO copolymers [20] whereas at high AOT fractions, I 1 /I 3 values are close to published data on AOT aggregates [12,21,22]. As shown in Fig.…”

“…Table 1 also shows that the fractional charge (α) increases with AOT content, as expected. The α values are higher in the case of the spherical model, and are comparable to those reported for pure AOT micelles in water [53]. No major changes in the size and geometry of aggregates were observed when temperature was increased from 30 to 50°C (see supplementary material (ESM 1)).…”

“…According to an earlier report [53], AOT aggregates at 1 wt% in water have the shape of prolate ellipsoids with a= 20.6Å and b=12.6Å (axial ratio=1.64); namely, addition of L121 induces micellar swelling. Since the hydrodynamic radius of L121 unimers in water (at 10°C) is 19Å [54], the copolymer seems to be in a more extended conformation when incorporated into the mixed aggregates, namely, the AOT hydrophobic chains would be acting as a relatively good solvent for PPO.…”

“…Of all the binary systems, mixtures containing AOT show more zeta potential, and we assume that this phenomena is related to micelle size. It is reported that AOT is easy to form vesicles in water [32]; thus the mixed micelles or micelles coexist with vesicles accounting for a relatively large zeta potential. We can also see that with NPES molar ratio increase in the mixture, the zeta potential decreases, indicating that the interaction of NPES with AOT causes destruction of the bilayer of vesicles to some extent.…”
