“…O emprego de tintas como marcadores é amplamente utilizado para investigar questões sobre história natural, biologia, ecologia e comportamento dentro da entomologia, devendo apresentar três características que os qualificam como eficazes em marcar insetos: (1) não ter influência na biologia ou comportamento do animal; (2) ser persistente pelo período de tempo do estudo e (3) apresentar secagem rápida (Hagler & Jackson, 2001). A tinta utilizada aqui apresenta essas características, sendo bastante utilizada em estudos que tratam de aspectos comportamentais em formigas (Greene & Gordon, 2007;Nowbahari et al, 2009;Sturgis & Gordon, 2013;Ellis & Robinson, 2015). Além disso, não foram observadas agressões entre formigas marcadas e não marcadas, sendo que as marcadas transitavam livremente pela planta e inclusive podendo entrar e sair das domácias, o que reforça a não influência dessa tinta no comportamento das operárias.…”
