Abstract:Acute flank pain in children and adolescents is a clinically demanding symptom requiring profound diagnostic work-up. Thorough history taking, careful clinical examination as well as urine and laboratory tests in addition to ultrasound are required to guide towards the diagnosis. This article presents possible underlying conditions with specific diagnostic and therapeutic considerations.
