Abstract:Acute idiopathic scrotal edema is a rare cause of acute scrotum that runs a benign course and resolves without sequelae. It is characterised by acute swelling and erythema of the scrotum. Color Doppler imaging typically demonstrates the “fountain sign” that, in the presence of normal testes and epididymis, additionally confirms the diagnosis. In this paper, we review the characteristics of acute idiopathic scrotal edema and report a clinical case.
