Alabama Parenting Questionnaire—Short Form (APQ-9): Evidencing Construct Validity with Factor Analysis, CFA MTMM and Measurement Invariance in a Greek Sample

Abstract: This study focused on the factor structure, measurement invariance, reliability, and validity of the Greek version of APQ-9 in a sample of 621 parents of children aged 7-13 years. The factor structure was examined first with EFA in the 30% subsample and CFA in the rest 70%. Power analysis indicated adequate CFA sample power at 80% probability of rejecting a false null hypothesis. The original structure of APQ-9 was verified. Full measurement invariance was also examined across child gender to a strict level. C… Show more

“…Items are tapping three factors (Positive Parenting, Inconsistent Discipline, Poor Supervision) with 3 items each. A CFA suggested the 3-factor APQ structure is tenable, χ 2 (24) = 44.10, χ 2 /df = 1.84, RMSEA = .044, CFI = .951, TLI = .926, SRMR = .043 (Kyriazos & Stalikas, 2019a). The internal consistency reliability in the current study was α = .63 (Positive Parenting), α = .68 (Inconsistent Discipline), α = .61 (Poor Supervision).…”

“…When selecting indicators for evaluating the quality of physical health teaching, a correlation analysis of the sample of evaluation indicators and physical health teaching is required. Correlation analysis of the sample is used to determine the degree of correlation between the indicators and physical health instruction, and correlation analysis of the sample allows amplification of the main features of the physical health instruction experiment and makes it more useful to observe which indicators have an impact on physical health instruction [ 25 ]. The results of the correlation analysis of the evaluation indicators are shown in Table 2 .…”

“…Reliability for positive parenting was .79 to .84 (reported separately among mothers and fathers, respectively), α = .72 to .65 for inconsistent discipline, and α = .59 to .63 for poor supervision (Elgar et al, 2007). Brief versions of APQ has been studied and found useful in diverse contexts including in Greece (Kyriazos & Stalikas, 2019) and Qatar (Badahdah & Le, 2016).…”
