Alcaloïdes Indoliques de Rauvolfia biauriculata

Abstract: A new alkaloid, 18-hydroxylochnerine (3), has been obtained from leaves, stem, and root barks of Rauualfia biauriculata. Eight other known alkaloids were also isolated: lochnerine (l), lochvinerine (2), 2 1-hydroxycyclolochnerine (6), vomilenine, perakine, ajmaline, corynanthine, and reserpiline. A tenth alkaloid 0, a yohimbine, has been isolated; the stereochemistry could not be determined, and its exact structure remains unknown.

“…On the basis of HSQC experiment, the left eight carbon signals were comprised of four methines and four methylenes. These NMR data of compound 2 were similar to those of lochnerine (4) [20], except that the methoxyl group in 4 was displaced by a hydroxyl group in 2. The HMBC correlations of H-9 to C-7, C-11, and C-13, H-11 to C-9 and C-13, and H-12 to C-8 and C-10 confirmed this hydroxyl group was at C-10.…”

“…Isomeranzin, heraclenol and canellal were obtained by chromatography of a chloroform extract of dried, powdered leaves as reported earlier [7]. Ibogaine, voacangine, lochnerin, pilocarpine and texalin were obtained as reported [8, 9]. Briefly, the dried powdered material was moistened with 25% NH 4 OH, and extracted by chloroform.…”
