Contemporary society has experienced a significant evolution in its engagement with sustainability, driven by various factors, including global initiatives such as the United Nations (UN) Global Compact (2000), further energized by the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study explores the interplay between tourism and these UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, employing a bibliometric analysis of scholarly literature, with findings processed through Iramuteq software. The investigation reveals that academic discourse connects tourism to 13 of the 17 SDGs outlined in the UN’s 2030 Agenda, with a predominant focus on SDG 8 – decent work and economic growth. Notably, the analysis uncovers a discrepancy in the scholarly treatment of SDG 14 – life below water, which, despite being earmarked by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as a critical area for tourism, receives limited attention, in contrast to SDG 11 – sustainable cities and communities. The study concludes that the academic exploration of the nexus between tourism and the SDGs has been relatively superficial, lacking depth in the context of the broader tourism and sustainability discourse.

A ODS (Objetivos de Desenvolvimento sustentável) possui diversos objetivos para sua agenda em 2030, são 17 metas para serem implementadas no ano citado, metas relacionadas a saúde, fome, violência e sustentabilidade, dentro delas temos a ODS 5 igualdade de gênero que preza pelo empoderamento e igualdade de todas as meninas e mulheres, combatendo a violência contra as mesmas e lutando por oportunidades iguais. A metodologia aplicada para este trabalho foi uma pesquisa bibliográfica descritiva de diversos autores e dados da ONU (Organização da Nações Unidas), tendo como finalidade estudar o avanço da ODS 5 dentro das organizações brasileiras em comparação com outros países, pesquisando índices comparativos em relação a desigualdade de gênero entre homens e mulheres empregados e em suas diferenças salarias ocupando cargos semelhantes, os resultados foram apresentados em gráficos, portanto ao fazer uma análise desses dados e materiais obtidos, constatamos que os homens são a maioria dentro das organizações, mas esses índices vem diminuindo ao longo dos anos, visto que a ODS 5 é uma das formas a se conseguir a plena igualdade.

Academic Education Navigating the Path of Knowledge

Geographic Science has an assorted and diverse scope of analysis. One of the characteristics of geographic studies are the practices that can come forth from many contents studied in the classroom. Research and extension projects, in addition to enriching learning, favor the expansion of practices in relation to the environment in which students are included. The Humaniza Bosque Carlos Belarmino – HBCB extension project initially arises with the aim of managing and conserving an area within the Centro de Humanidades (CH) of the Universidade Estadual da Paraíba – UEPB. Currently, the project has become a program that houses more than 50 people, including teachers, students and volunteers, developing the topophilia of those who regularly visit these spaces. The program has 8 Environmental Education – EA projects taking its practices to more than 20 schools and communities, located in several municipalities polarized by the CH. The objective of this article is to present the practice of EA from the HBCB/CH/UEPB Extension Program. The methodology used was participatory and shared, with the scheduling of visits to interested schools and communities, as well as the activities developed within the HBCB space. The space has been well used and the proposed practices have had excellent acceptance from the university community and surrounding communities, who have become interested in applying EA practices in their municipalities, schools, streets and houses. In this way, it is understood that the extension work developed in the HBCB/CH/UEPB program contributes to strengthening education, developing sustainable environmental practices, strengthening the human/environment link, through topophilia.
