Previous studies conducted in South Africa found that risky sexual behaviour, such as having sex with multiple partners and engaging in unprotected sex was associated with harmful uses of alcohol, particularly among males (Adams et al, 2014;Manyaapelo et al, 2016;Page & Hall, 2009;Peltzer, Ramlagan, & Satekge, 2012).
