“…To induce ADH mutations, one hundred seeds of formosensis were irradiated with 400 Gy (RD 50 for seedling height) of 60 Co gamma-ray at 10 3 Gy/ h. In the M 1 generation, plants derived from the irradiated seeds were self-pollinated by bagging and harvested as panicle progeny. Twelve seeds from a panicle of each fertile M 1 plant were tested by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis described elsewhere (Yamasue et al, 1990). Because most of the ADH activity within seeds is localized in the embryo (Yamasue et al, 1990), whole seeds were used to produce ADH zymo-grams.…”
