“…Influence of alcoholic diet on maternal blood composition The pharmacokinetics of alcohol in milk and blood after CSSR consumption and its implications have been described in detail elsewhere (13) . Briefly, milk alcohol peaked at 20-40 min, decreased nearly linearly thereafter, and reached zero level at approximately 175 min postconsumption.…”

“…However, recent research has shown that the consumption of this alcoholic soup significantly lengthens milk ejection time and lowers milk yield of lactating mothers (26) . Furthermore, alcohol can be detected in breast milk for several hours after consumption of the alcoholic soup (27) . Results from some studies suggest that alcohol in breast milk can be detrimental for the sleep pattern and psychomotor development of infants (27) .…”

“…Furthermore, postpartum women consume a large amount of chicken soup flavored with rice wine during the "doing the month" period. Research showed that alcohol from rice wine remained elevated in breast milk for a few hours as a result of alcohol intake (Y. C. Chien, Huang, Hsu, Chao, & Liu, 2009; Y. C. Chien et al, 2005). Lactating mothers should be educated that breast-feeding their infants should be done at least 3 hours after ingesting chicken soup with rice wine or other alcohol-containing foods to ensure that milk is free of alcohol and thus minimize infant alcohol exposure and its associated health risks.…”

“…Chien, Tai, Ko, Huang, & Sheu, 2006). Yang food such as chicken, pig's trotters, internal organs, ginseng, and eggs are encouraged to nourish the blood and to facilitate recovery by redressing the Yin-Yang or hot-cold imbalance (Y. C. Chien, Liu, Huang, Hsu, & Chao, 2005;Holroyd et al, 2004;Holroyd, Kate, Chun, & Ha, 1997;Koon, Peng, & Karim, 2005). Ginger, rice wine, and sesame seed oil, also considered hot foods, are used in large amounts in the cooking.…”
